I was given an assortment of computer hardware by a friend, and this graphics card was among it. Also included were a crappy HP desktop, two 360gb HDDs, and a Cooler Master COSMOS s case. I put the motherboard from the pre-built into the case and added the GPU, but I got no video output.
So far I have tried these steps:

  • Inserting the GPU into my personal computer (No video output)
Removing and reinserting all the power cables (No change)
Inserting my GPU (HD 7850) into the prebuilt (Video output, computer booted)
Any other steps I can use to try to fix this? If it helps I also have a GT8400 (I think that is the right name).

Thanks!

The GPU is the PNY Performance Edition GTS 250 1024MB

I have found a soloution and I will post it for anyone who may have this problem in the future. The steps I took were to blow the graphics card off with a leaf blower, and to change the video output setting in the bios from PCI to PCI-e. After that, the GPU worked.
