hey guys,
just finished building my new gaming system today, everything working great par my internet connection...
normally i get a download speed of 120+kb/s but i9m sturggling to get past 40kb/s on my new system!
i run through an ethernet cable straight into the MSI G45-Z87 Gaming mobo. my internet is slower than most due to my location but it shouldn't be THIS slow...
only thing i can think of is the Killer e2200 networking included on the mobo? i can't find how to avoid it or even disable it (Or if thats even possible). everything else is the same as my other system, the same cable even...
i have killer network manager running while trying to download BF4, im getting 3kb/s atm but Killer managers says i have a ton of bandwidth im not using? th download seems to be going through avast (My anti virus program), i tried disabling sheilds and all, it shifts the download to origin but the speed doesnt change even though i still have a ton of bandwidth i could be using, i set both programs to highest priority.
Is there any way to get the download using the full 1MB download speed that is availible. i know its possible because occasionally it jumps up to that speed for about 20 seconds with no reason to explain why...

any input on how i can fix this issue would be much appreciated! :)

I have the same MB. What you might try doing, is uninstalling and reinstalling both the AV program and also the Qualcom Killer Network card drivers. You can also disable any kind of network control in the Killer Network app to see if that resolves it.

Another thing, the AV app may be slowing down the computer because it might still be running its first full sweep of the system after the initial installation, so that could be the main reason.

Okay first and foremost, you need to help us understand about your 'network'
So
1) is there any other computers / phones / whatever connected to this (doesn't matter what you think if they connect they count).
2) Is this Cable, Satellite, DSL, etc? What does your ISP contract says your supposed to get on UP/Down?
3) what is the make / model of the Modem?
4) what is the make / model of the Router (if it is seperate)?
5) JUST to make sure you ONLY have the onboard 'Killer' NIC, NO ADDED Wireless/Wired cards right?
6) To answer, you can disable the NIC totally, but you can't "bypass" Killer, that IS the NIC on the mobo. The Killer isn't "causing Internet slowdown". Actually will provide the best connection possible between your PC and your Router, but it doesn't "affect" the Modem/ISP settings / connections.
7) DO NOT turn off your AVAST, that is the easiest way to get infected without even trying (typically it was only 15 minutes of a computer 'plugged into the Internet' and it got infected WITHOUT ANY USER doing ANYTHING on it at all.
8) Run Malwarebytes to scan for Malware, to make sure you have nothing running that way (AV does NOT pick up Malware).

Let us have that information and we can see what we can do. But honestly if your running on 1Mbit (they don't sell 1MByte) you need to ask the ISP for a upgrade or get better service. System choke on that due to 'everything being on the Web' (just look at the demands of the NexGen Consoles ALWAYS ON connections). Most DSL is offering 10-15Mbs, while Cable is offering 30-100Mbs, and Fiber (from Sprint / Verizon) 1Gbps connections in MANY MANY places.

1) yup. 1 other system, 1 laptop, 1 iPad
2) using an Ethernet cable for connection. No idea what I'm 'supposed' to get (see below)
4)dreytek vigor2830n
5) no extra cards added

So, to start off with. I live in a pretty remote village and the relay for the village is ancient. This is THE fastest Internet possible in our area and we cannot do anything about it untill they upgrade the relay. That said, I updated drivers and killer network manager is saying I have a download of 4mb/s and upload of 0.96mb/s.

I am attempting to download bf4 from origin as a test. Initially it downloads at anywhere between 600-900kb/s which is roughly 5 hours download time, I'm fine with that, but after 10 seconds it slows to 100kb/s and then just seems to jam for a few mins then continue at 8-14kb/s...
I have tried disabling 'bandwidth control' on killer network manager, no difference either way. I wonder if my AV is the problem, as it is scanning every single file that comes in and is taking up over half the band width being used.

I then look at the download graphs in killer network manager, I see there isn't a bit of download going on atall. The network is able to go upto 4mb/s but nothing is using that, I don't understand why it doesn't just use the bandwidth and download rarther than 'throttling' and slowing to pretty much no download?

Okay first, lets not use the game everyone else is trying to get at the same time. Lets do simple downloads first and see what happens. I was on a 1Mb SHARED network connection and I know the pain on being on such a connection is.

That said seems your on DSL, DSL as your noted is limited because the relay (which is supporting EVERYONE) can get choked too, so lets stop with the Killer Network/Avast is causing the problems thinking for a bit and do a set of basic diagnostics to see what is / not happening.

Now First test, Go to FileHippo.com and search for Avast (83.47MB file). Download it via the new PC and see how long it takes. Then WIRE the laptop / other system into the Router and do the same test, same website. Now if you have them all close together run it again but on all the machines at the same time. Tell us what you find happen.

If only the new PC is having issues then lets test, do you have a NIC card (say from the other system or spare lying around) and install it, then disable in BIOS the KILLER. Again test the same way, does it change? If not then the Killer isn't the problem and the issue IS isolated to this build, which can be anything at this point (Windows corrupt, hardware flaking, etc.).

What version of Windows is this? Download SPECCY and run it, provide the rest of your specs.

I don't have a spare nic card unfortunately
Specs:
I5-4670k
Msi g45-z87 gaming
8gb corsair vengeance
Gigabyte gtx 770 4gb OC
Wd caviar blue 1tb

I will do the file download thing as soon as I can (could be a while)
I just tried downloading something off steam and its registering a steady 700-900kb/s download, which is better than origin but still not amazing

Honestly Origin EA sucks (and the reason it is STILl rated the worst company ever) and shouldn't be your test bed. STEAM has a model that they stuck to hard, and have performed really well at doing it, selling / downloading games over the Internet. So yes that test would be more reliable, but again ALL depends on no one in your 'Villiage' is all trying to watch the Football (Soccer) matches on Youtube at the same time (slowing down not just your use but everyone's ).

Just tried downloads again today, back to 'normal', must of just been an overly slow day...
i still have one issue.
internet explorer is having trouble, every time i do a search or try to load a page it stops responding an a little warning saying: 'internet explorer has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution'. i leave this but it just reloads the tab to where i was before the search...

i hvae no idea what is going on or why it is happening, did an anti virus scan and everything seemed fine... at the same time im downloading stuff on steam but i doubt thats the issue as it did the same thing before i started downloading stuff off steam...
Any ideas?

Yeah Steam can and does hog the bandwidth. If your pulling on Steam you can't really do anything else, because of how much your trying to pull down (I had to schedule my Steam downloads to work when I went to bed. If a large game I did that for a couple of nights).

You should run MALWAREBYTES to check for Malware, which is different then viruses and can muck things up, but I suspect your just on a terrible low connection (due to the relay and other people doing the SAME THINGS) and just need to do one activity at a time. I would also suggest you run Windows Update repeatedly till you have all updates and optionals (except BING BAR) installed. I know the new IE 11 changes more then IE in Windows as well.

1) OP already stated there is a problem with the connection
2) Refreshing the connection will NOT resolve when everyone else is trying to download (as the OP was doing) BF4 all at the same time. The best solution would either do it overnight (when everyone is sleeping) or walk to everyone in town and personally coordinate / speak to them when OP can 'hog' the connection
3) NEVER offer a PAY FOR PROGRAM (Reginout) as a solution when it does not do anything to improve the problem (local ISP 'relay')

Just another small issue I have, the cursor shows something loading in a pulse like pattern (little blue rotating circul next to it), it is on for about 1/2-1 second and the. Off for the same amount of time, I have no idea why this is happening, what it means and how to fix it. Either way It is really annoying.
I scanned with malware bytes, nothing came up, no suspicious processes going on in task manager and no downloads going on (as far as I know)
Anyone know how to stop it?

All depends what 'dependent on the Internet' apps your running, what apps your running when this is happening, etc. Since Vista, all the software is constantly running in the background, be it the add ons (you may not be running but they still run) for your browser (doesn't matter they all do it), to your Antivirus running in the back, to your IM client checking for messages, Adobe (if you didn't remove it from start) checking for your downloads, and so on.

Realistically you need to go through MSConfig or one of the tweak tools out there to reduce down your STARTUPS to the very bare minimal, and expect it still going to do things. As I speak my computer just sitting here as I post does 1.5K-4K of all the many things I mentioned (not even the constant checking for Windows Update, telling Microsoft this is a Activated legal copy, and so on).

Did a few windows updates, the arrow loading issue seems to have gone for now.
I'm still trying to download bf4, I had improved results after the windows updates, running at about 1mb/s for afew mins, it was looking good... Then it dropped down through the hundreds to 4kb/s...
I don't understand why origin alone could make this happen, I know it's an awful program, but surely there must be something else I'm missing that makes it do this? Btw steam was downloading games at 800kb/s to 1mb/s, consistently.
It's the random drop that makes me wonder if something has tagged onto origin and only kicks in after a few mins or seconds of download time?
As you can probly tell, I'm not good with Internet issues and just as bad with viruses, so anything would be helpful tbh. Thanks for the help so far btw :)

Nope. Really when it is a single source that has the problems (no issues with Toms Hardware, going to BBC, using Steam), then it is solely that website. Now Steam has 'regionalized' its 'servers', so they work to optimize traffic to the nearest source, or switch on load to a secondardy location, etc. Origin does not seem to have the same model and only has a few U.S. ONLY Data centers for the gaming servers, and I believe (based on what I seen to date) fewer 'distribution' (where you actually download the game from) centers. EA/Origin is just a bad company overall, customer service sucks, and they keep doing things that are 'cost effective' but 'customer unfriendly'.
