So i just appliad maybe little too much thermal paste to my cpu. There was little of the paste coming out of the sides of the cpu. no paste ended up to the cpu socket because amd fx8350 design is like that there is like little space that some paste can overcome without going to the sockets. so i wiped the overcomed paste and my cpu should be fine for longer sessions and overclocking, right?

Solution
Well too much paste can inhibit the transfer of heat which won't help cool down your CPU.

You can check whether you've put too much on either by reapplying the thermal paste or by checking the temps in the OS when at full load.

Well to much TIM can be as bad as not having any. All you really need is a thin layer to cover the imperfections of the surface between the CPU and heatsink and that is really it. If you feel you put to much on you most likely did. I would remove the heatsink clean the CPU and heatsink and re-apply being careful with the amount you put on this time. That is really the best way to be sure.

If the TIM you used is non-conductive you really don't have to worry about over-applying. I mean, you don't want to bathe the socket in the compound, but if a little comes out the side its no big deal. The talk about "too much is as bad as too little" really isn't true. The pressure of mounting the HSF onto the CPU will force out the excess and its better to have the entire heat spreader covered than leave gaps by being too stingy while applying the TIM. Of course its best to apply just the right amount, but again, unless you have a full-blown mess running down onto the socket don't sweat it.

It came with the cooler master 212 evo, so i dunno if its conductive, anyone knows? and what if i remove it do i really need over 70% alcohol cleaner or is dry cloth just fine? Even though the 5ml of 500 ml liquer bottle to clean the cpu and rest for me way sounds very tempting ;)
Or well not really, anyone knows if just little bit water to the cloth and then wipe very carefully is just fine?
