Hello,
I have a gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5 that refuses to post....no beep codes or any thing what so ever....it was in a computer i had lying around for a while and it at least posted before I abandoned the project. I was curious if any one here might be able to help me get this board back to operating if it is at all possible.......if it is not possible then i would like to replace the motherboard at the lowest cost possible, i dont know if my AMD athelon X64 X2 will fit in todays AM3 and AM3+ boards being sold these days or not, the ram is DDR2, and from a quick google i have a pair of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144157 as well as a pair of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134582

The DDR2 800 PC2 6400 is what i had initially in the machine when i got it the DDR2 533 PC2 4200 was ram some one had laying around and had given to me i have not attempted to run this in the Gigabyte board.

USB 3.0 would be a nice bonus once again if replacing the board is my only reaming option as well as if my AM2+ will fint in any AM3 boards.

The CMOS battery is one thing i did not think to check....i was under the impression a dead CMOS battery would not effect POST or even booting up at all....but its worth a shot thanks for the suggestion
