Hi, as the title says my computer turns off after 5-10 minutes of it being on.

I'm posting this for a friend. At first I thought it may be temperatures so I told him to quickly try and download CPU-id before it turns off, he managed to go and I have a screenshot of his temperatures below.

They look fine to me, but I'm no computer expert.

I've said it could be PSU issues or maybe even a virus.

What do you guys think?

*Update* He tried booting it in safe mode and it still cut off in safe mode after 5 minutes.

Could be a PSU issue. Kind of of curious why that fan is showing 99% as the temps look good.

I thought it would be a PSU issue indeed. Also, I've just spotted the 99% fan too, that's a little weird.

have you added any cards or drives? it may be the power supply unit by chance what's the brand?

Maybe the fan is connected to the PSU directly, causing it to run at max speed.
But then, it won't show on the sensors, will it?

He hasn't added any cards or drives since this started happening. His computer was working fine around 3 days ago and it's started happening. His PSU is a 500w and doesn't know the brand as it came with the computer

im going to go out on a limb and say that its the power supply due to the fact that its not even providing enough power on the 3.3v range it should be reading something like 3.344. also there is another version of hardware monitor that dose not have the trial bars .. blocked out and its free.

Is this a new build?

What is your motherboard model?

can you run a proper HWmonitor and post the +12V value?
download this :http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/1.24.zip

I will see if he can download it as it turns off not long after he switches it on :p !

ok if he does get it running, if the value is not within 5% of 12, it means your psu is defective.
i.e. your 12v reading is less then 11.5V or more then 12.5v

Nope, he's had the computer for 2 years or so he said. Also, it's a gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P mobo

well if you dont mind waiting depending on the vendor they tend to let you do warranty rma's how ever it might cost more to ship it out and get it back than it would be to just go and pick up another one.

Solid caps, so no visual way to tell if one went bad. If you are unable to get a +12v reading from HWmonitor, the next best thing would be to plug a known good PSU in.

If you have more than 1 DIMM in the machine, I would suggest also testing with just 1 stick at a time.

He can't get it past loading the internet without it turning off now so he won't be able to get that reading :/

Ok. Those OEM PSUs are not usually the best in the world ( cheap ). You might get good service out of one then again you may not.
