I have read and attempted several variations but seeing as im not the most computer literate person I wondered if anybody out there has had the same problem and may know the remedy. This Memory stick use to work fine but having lent it to a couple of work colleagues it has come back to me and when I have attempted to clear off the media stored on it I then get the message "write protected" and so "cannot remove files", can anybody help please.

Many Thanks

Darren

Did you attempt to clear off the files via formatting the disk? When you format it, make sure "quick format" is unticked.

Eject and pull out the USB and check to see if it has a write protection switch.
Right click drive, properties > general > uncheck read only.
Go to regedit, navigate to the registry folder "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies."and check to see if there is an entry at the right side of the window labeled "Write Protect". If the entry is not there, right-click inside the window and choose "New D Word." Type "Write Protect" and press "Enter." Then double-click the "Write Protect" entry. Check that the value listed in the text box is "0." If it is not, delete the value and replace it with "0.".

Try those and see if any of them resolved your issue.
