Which is the better upgrade?

I'm looking to upgrade my system in the near future (next month most likely). I currently run an unlocked Athlon II x3 455 (Phenom II x4 b55 @ 3.5 Ghz) on an Asus m4n68t-m v2 with 4gb crucial 1600 ddr3 and a radeon hd 6850.

I have a hd 7870 ghz edition coming in soon. I am looking for a budget friendly cpu and motherboard upgrade. I am currently considering a Pentium g3220 and a b85 or h81 motherboard, and getting an non-k i5 sometime down the road. I am also considering going the amd route ... I can get 1090t dirt cheap from a friend and just get a decent 990FX board, and get 8350 later on. My budget will be around $200. I can go higher but I would prefer not to. I mainly use my pc for gaming and general use. I play stuff like WoW, SWTOR, Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 1&2, TF2, L4D 1&2 ... I do have BF3 but I'm not a big fan.

I'm not really looking for specific parts, just which of these is the best option. I'm not really a big overclocker (I keep things mild). More ram and an ssd will be added later on. I have a retail copy of w7 too so I can reuse my OS.

@patrick47018 I was thinking this too. I know Intel is faster but pricier too.

@realchaos I have a Rosewill green series 630w psu, 80+ bronze RG630-s12 ... runs good and has 2 pci-e 6 pin power connectors. 50 something amps@ 12volts

If I go Intel I was considering a non-k i5 later on. I think a 3350p and motherboard would put me over budget, unless I get really cheap mATX motherboard. It doesn't need to be a z so ...

@Patrick I'm hoping to keep both mobo and cpu around 200ish. yeah I can higher but I don't really want to. I'm not a hard core gamer either ... I just like my games to look nice and have a decent playable fps. That 1090t would only cost me $40 ... my friend doesn't do ebay or craigslist and I'm the only one he knows who would want it, plus I can use it in my current mobo. I'm looking for something that will come close to the 3570k and hd7950 I had to get rid of. not match it mind you, but come close to it, eventually (in a few months or so)

There is nothing wrong with M-ATX motherboards.
They will only have 4 expansion slots vs. 7 for ATX.
They perform exactly the same.

they limit upgradeability ... that's my beef with them. If I want to add more ram later I will need to buy new ram and not use what I have. The video card usually blocks the pci-e x1 slot too. not that I need it atm, but it's nice to have it available if I need it (I had an issue with that a couple years back with my current asus board and a sound card)

@patrick47018 I am inclined to agree with you. I was just looking for opinions on that. My friend has a 8350 now with a gtx 770 and it runs as fast my i5 did. I wont be getting the mobo until next month, but I can get that 1090t today if I want. I still have my Rosewill Challenger case and a decent psu. I will likely get an 8350 by march or april, and maybe by then I can also pick up another 7870 (and psu).

I was actually looking at the asrock board, I had an extreme3 z77 board before and I was pleased with it,

Sounds Awesome! You not like the looks of the FX-9370? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113352
