I am looking to get a new graphics card soon and was wondering if i was going to need to get a new cpu also. I have a AMD a10 5800k apu and want to get the new AMD r9 290 with the custom cooler once that comes out.

Questions:
- can i disable the gpu part of my AMD a10 5800k and add a AMD r9 290
- how would i make the new graphics card work instead of the gpu that is part of my apu.
- would my cpu's 3.4Ghz be powerful enough to take full advantage of a 4gb graphics card(AMD r9 290)
- any idea when the AMD r9 290 with the custom cooler will come out? I read sometime in december.

Thanks for the help! :)

the answer lies within the motherboard. you should have the ability to turn off IGPU or have the motherboard default to pci-e when a gpu is present. as for 3, the APU will be slightly lacking in cpu heavy games. question 4, its this month

Your CPUs iGPU becomes disabled as soon as the card becomes detected and drivers installed. You have to plug your video cable into the video card and not the motherboard.
Your cpu will be a bottleneck. If you're just playing at 1080p I would recommend a 280X instead as todays flagship cards are meant for higher resolutions.
