I have a Lacie rugged 1tb backup drive.
I have lost or misplaced the AC adapter. The Lacie manuals offer no information on the electrical specs of this adapter, eg amperage. :pt1cable:
I do not wish to damage this device by using the wrong adapter. Lacie website offered no useful information. I believe I have the adapter here, along with several others.
I am seeking the electrical specs of this adapter.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanx in advance. :)

Solution
if it's a 2-pin, then it's just 5V and amperage doesn't matter much - well, worst case you won't be able to supply enough. but typically, you'd need 5V 1A. if you have a 5V 25A supply, you'll be fine - it's not gonne SHOVE 25A into it by force, it'll just let it take as much as it wants UP TO 25A. the only question is polarity - and if you have adapters with both center-positive and center-negative, then, well, try the center-positive first. any decent caddy should have reverse-voltage protection (which is stupidly easy to implement anyways)

if you have 3+ pins (meaning it's a 3.5" drive), then start scraping google for info.

Thanx to all for your input. Sorry for lack of info supplied.
Mine is a Rugged XL 3.0 (Thunderbolt, I think).
Sorry, I should have searched more deeply before posting here.

The power supply MUST BE ( according to LaCie, and Scout here) 12v output, 3A. Anything else could damage the drive. I have decided to order one on the Internet; there is nobody in this 10c university town who would sell anything out of the ordinary. Total cost ~$20 including tax, S&H.

In addition, am using this as a storage drive instead of backup. I find I now need another backup drive to secure all this data. Have not yet considered cloud storage; guess I prefer to have it here in my hands. At least so far.

Thanx again to all who contributed.
