For a system using a single GeForce GTX 760 graphics card NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 30 Amps or greater and that has at least two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors. Some of the GeForce GTX 760 cards have a single 8-pin or two 8-pin or one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.
Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor.
Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.
The Dell 460 Watt OEM Delta Electronics or Acbel Polytech or Huntkey power supply unit, with its maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 32 Amps and with two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors, is sufficient to power your system configuration with a single GeForce GTX 760 graphics card.
Hi Ko888,
I have the same XPS 8700. Tried to upgrade with a Radeon HD7870 I bought for $170. Great card but it crashes at startup- black screen. I tried reseating the memory, taking out the CMOS battery, disabling secure boot... I am about to return it.
Can you advise a similar priced graphic card with solid performance and efficiency (concerned with heat and power)?
I bought this to play BF4, now m back to my xbox. Can't wait to get my GPU replaced.....
Thanks
I also upgraded my power supply to a corsair CX600, 600w. Judging by your advice, I should return it and save the money for a better GPU I guess..
