For the last couple weeks when I start my computer I've been getting a CPU fan error and then prompted to go to the BIOS. The fan is running about 585-595 rpm and is shown in red. I haven't noticed any performance differences or even any temperature problems. What's going on?

With larger heatsink fans, the rpm is of course lower than a normal stock cpu fan. The motherboard sometimes sees these low rpm's and registers a false cpu fan error. Try going into your bios settings and set the cpu fan rpm warning lower, to like 300rpm and see if that fixes you up.

Is the CPU fan plugged into the CPU fan header (and not another header)?

It's usually because it can't sense the fan spinning. It might also be below a threshold - you may be able to turn up the minimum speed, or just disable the warning.

Could be the fan is dirty. What cooler are you using? That sounds like very low RPM. What is the fan/cooler rated to perform at. Could be the fan is going out and has slow start up. Maybe you could provide some details?

It's the CM Hyper 212 Plus and the Asus P8Z77-V Pro. I had the exact same problem on my previous system, with same parts, and simply had to turn down the low threshold cpu fan warning to 300 rpm.

I restarted my computer and it didn't give me the error. I checked the CPU fan speed and it was running at 730. I went ahead and lowered the warning setting anyway. I'll see how it is tomorrow morning. Thanks for the quick help.
