Hi All,

I've just built my new PC and installed Windows 8.1 on my Samsung Evo 250GB SSD.

I have another 250GB SSD and a 3TB HDD sitting in the bays.

What is the ideal setup for someone who plays games and also is going to be burning their DVD collection to disk, as well as doing Photoshop and Illustrator?

I don't know much about RAID or if it is necessary. I haven't connected the drives yet either.

Thanks for all your advice.

Solution
No RAID necessary. Just 3 independent drives.

OS and applications on one SSD. Maybe a few games on the other. The HDD for files that do not require the speed...music, movies, etc.

Alright, so I plugged them in...and they didn't get recognized by Windows. Did I miss a step?

silly questions, but at this hour - you plugged in both power and data cables, and connected to mobo?

you can connect sata power while machine is running, just to make sure the drive is getting power - you'll feel it start to spin up (don't shake it, hold is steady). if it's powering up, then you can connect the sata data cable next, and windows should at the very least register it in disk management (might have to rescan devices)

care to post a screen-shot of what disk management shows (all of it)? sometimes new drives are further down the list, depending on which port you plugged them into.
