Another (obvious) "First Build" question for the community.
I put together the following:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2gDyQ

Wasn't sure on memory, but I picked the 1866 CAS 8 because it wasn't too expensive, and some things I've read indicate the lower CAS is better. Is this memory a good fit for a Gaming build?

Budget-wise I'm right around where I want. Max $2000 all included. I need to add Office and some other software (games) to the build so I don't want to approach $2000 on the hardware. And I don't know what else I'll need, like cables, etc.

I tried to max the Monitor/GPU while keeping everything else to allow for upgrades in the future. I'm hoping for 5 years out of this PC with at most adding memory and upping the GPU in a few years. (And the case was picked by one of my kids, so it's non-negotiable.)

I went with the "k" cpu just because I've always wanted to try overclocking. Nothing heavy, just for the experience.

My main concern now is the memory, but any advice on this build would be appreciated.

memory performance for most games is near negligible for the cost that comes with it. High memory speeds is visually perceivable in game only when running an iGPU since it uses the memory similar to vram. for absolute performance, its better spend the extra $ on a different part of the build rather than ram

That ram is a good set and looks like a very good deal. The lower the cas the better is true but its not a huge concern. I would focus more on your choice of case and GPU. If you want a case that will fit everything nicely and is only 50$ i recommend a NZXT tempest 210 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146084.

As for the gpu you will be saving 100$ with that case and i would put that to a better card. I just got a gigabyte r9 280X from new egg for 300 before they put the prices up but if you can find a 280 instock they are amazing cards for the price. If not maby a GTX 770 or higher or a r9 290 when the aftermarket coolers come out.
