My second attempt to post as I don't think the first one went through.

First I wanted to thank you guys for what you do on here. It's been extremely helpful. I hope you will offer me your advice on this scenario:

My laptop recently crashed and I'm now unable to play Minecraft, which has left me really bummed. My options now are to try to upgrade an old Dell Dimension 5100 (no or wait until Feb. when our tax refund comes in, and blow half of it on a cheaper gaming rig... or maybe both? In any case, I want a computer that will allow me to play Minecraft and enjoy it, and simultaneously screen record so I can do a Let's Play series on YouTube. If I go the route of upgrading, here is what I've worked out based on other threads, and please let me know if this will do what I want it to do, or if I'm missing anything:

Specs for Dell Dimension 5100

I can upgrade the CPU to an Intel Pentium D for $20 to $40 depending of if I buy used, refurbished, new. Does not include any fans or a heat sink. Any opinions on the used/new/refurbished thing?

I can upgrade the RAM to 3 or 4 GB for $10.00 per stick.

I can upgrade the GPU to a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5670 for $30.00.

In all it looks like 6 pieces of hardware for a total of around $110.00 if I buy the cpu new, plus probably another $30.00 in shipping. This is more realistic if I wanted to do something before February.

Do you think this would run Minecraft and screen capture at the same time? Even 30 fps on reduced settings would be okay for me.

Also important, am I missing anything, and what do I need to know if I'm going to try to install this stuff myself? Will I need to upgrade the power unit, if so, can you recommend one? Will I need additional fans, etc?

I've never upgraded a computer before, so any advice is appreciated. Links to good youtube tutorials would also be very helpful. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to give as much info as possible. Any advice or recommendations you can give would be greatly appreciated and I will be sure to hit the "best answer/question answered" button. Thanks for your time and help.
