I think i put too much

I was applying thermal paste and i think i accidentally put a bit too much. should i just leave it be? Or can i clean off a little bit? I have no more Thermal Paste and i dont wanna go out to buy more.

ehh putting too much won't be that bad. your temps will be a little higher but as long as they are not bleeding off the edge onto the mobo it should be good.

I do recommend putting new paste on it when you get the chance

you only need a dot in the center or line through the center, your sandwiching two plates together so it doesn't take much to go over the edge...if you think you put to much on just wipe it off and put a dot on there's plenty of pictures on here to show the size of the dot or different techniques. the purpose of the pastes is to fill the basically microscopic crevice's in as the two plates are against each other.

Err you could wipe a little off if you put way too much. Just that the spread might not be as great.

You could also just mount the cooler on and then wipe the excess from the sides. Most pastes will not ruin your motherboard. Only the conductive ones will.
