as rolli said, unless you are super enthusiast who must have the best and plans on overclocking to the max then the rog may be an option, but a board 1/3rd of that price would perform the same.
motherboards are based on a chipset released by intel - so all motherboards will have the same basic features, then partners will add in their own extras to try and woo the consumer, eg: extra usb / sata ports, pretty bios with lots of overclocking options, extra pci-e slots, sli/xfire certification etc.
so the difference is what added features there are on the board over and above the reference design of intel. they are also usually huge, unless its the Gene, so make sure it will fit in your case.
Asus do excellent boards with a lot of extra features for far cheaper than their ROG boards.
please do not misinterpret this as me saying that they are bad boards or there is no place for them in the market. and if budget is not a worry, by all means, they are awesome boards.
