Faulty case, motherboard, or drivers?

So, I haven't been able to get audio out of my front panel headphone jack. However, I do get audio from a USB headset. This was my first home built PC ever, everything is working 100% awesome for many months, but I recently got new headphones that use micro phone jack. It's frustrating!

I have the cable that is connected to the front panel, it has a little branch-out for 2 options - one being HD AUDIO and one being AC'97. I have the HD AUDIO plug attached to the very bottom bottom row or connectors, at the farthest left. In the BIOS settings the front panel setup is set to HD AUDIO (not ac'97). Anyway, when I open my playback devices it recognizes the USB one, but not the audio jack one (they're both plugged into the front panel) however, it shows quite a few playback devices that I'm not familiar with, all of them say Nvidia playback device. Do I have to activate those? Does my sound come from the Nvidia graphics card? (ASUS GTX 770, I do NOT have a separate audio card)

Here's my motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z. Any help would be very much appreciated - I'm desperate

If you need any more info PLEASE just tell me

Sorry, didnt mean to hit pick as solution... If a mod is seeing this, please don't close the thread...

Anyway, no. My motherboard and graphics cards came with disks, but I only used the graphics card one. Should I pop in the motherboard one?

As I mentioned earlier, I'm a total noob. What exactly do I instal? Could you link me or explain to me. I tried to download Realtek but they didn't have any for windows 8 so I gave up.

Alright, just to sum up if other people come across here with this problem;

HD AUDIO plugged into the motherboard, HD AUDIO in BIOS setting (default), front panel not playing headphone jack sound.
Using the cd that came with the motherboard should fix it

Right?
