Approximate Purchase Date: Within a month

Budget Range: $1500 - $2000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Movies, Surfing the net, Uni work [CAD mainly] ( haha I know my priorities should start with my degree =P)

Are you buying a monitor: No, but am Planning to see below

Parts to Upgrade: Here's where I'm stuck I have no clue on a Mobo or PSU Also case suggestions would be a big help. I'd like relatively quiet case I'm sick of the F24 Jet engine in my room (exaggeration not by much)

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: ATM I suppose http://www.gamedude.com.au/ I know they aren't the cheapest so recommendations here would also be helpful.

Location: Springwood, Queensland, Australia - Probably get gamedude to build my system

Parts Preferences: Case: Any want tidy looking no LED lights no window maybe
Mobo: Gigabyte or Asus (Always had Gigabyte)
PSU: Corsair, Gigabyte, Thermaltake

Overclocking: Yes one day I would like to OC

SLI or Crossfire: Yes crossfire most likely unless there is any reason for me to convert to Nvidia

Your Monitor Resolution: For the time being 1600x1080 I will be upgrading to this though
http://benqshop.com.au/lcd-monltors/gaming-monitors/xl2720t.html
27" 1920x1080 Benq Monitor

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: My HDD is starting to die and it's about time for a new rig so why not.

Include a list of any parts you have already selected with descriptively labeled links for parts. Please do not post only links.

MSI GTX770 OVERCLOCK TWIN FROZR N770 TF 4GD5/OC 4098MB Clock 1189MHz SPLINTER CELL BLACKLIST.

Additional Comments:
I'd like advice on Mobo and PSU namely also if I should go with the Nvidia card or stick to the ATI and Case suggestions.

I'd like to thank FinneousPJ For his re-post of http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/353572-31-build-upgrade-advice

and NormH for his post http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/353572-31-build-upgrade-advice

Also to Nismo1 for helping me on a previous build post. However if you stumble across that build I discarded it due to some information I was given about MSI boards being unreliable as well as some of the various other parts I listed previously.
Thanks to all of you in advance and I apologise for the wall of text.

Solution
For motherboards, I would go with this ASrock or the other Giga Z87X-UD3H or Asus z87 plus.

Out of the 2 cards you listed I would go with the 7970 or the 280x as they are more bang for the buck. The 770 4gb isn't really worth the extra money. If you needed more Vram may as well step up to a 780 if you wanna stay with nividia.

Cheaper than the above but will work just the same. Using an AMD card here because it has a 3GB frame buffer which is better for the latest games and games to come.

check with you cad program to see what gpu they support a lot of the free cads and home cards look for nvidia gpus. I put in more ram then your build with the newer intel mb they run best with two dimms. put in a ssd for the boot os for speed. the cosair r line is a plan case.
if your going to use two gpu loot for a 850w power supply.

I found phanteks fans to be more quiet then others, or it could just be me. The case was Tomhardware top quiet case for 2012 I think, there's an article on it somewhere.

H4X3R You're one of many to tell me this, however I cannot find a reason of which, I can understand. If you could be so kind as to provide dumbed down reason behind MSI boards and cards. (seagate I've experienced and will be swapping with WD)

My only other concern is would this rig be able to run the benq 27"w monitor at 1080p on ultra settings would 3gb be enough?

Also ASrock who makes them?

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
