Hey there!

I have been using the following PC:
CPU: Intel i3-2100 @ 3.1GHz
RAM: 6GB(2+4)
Mobo: Digilite H61-MXEL
Graphics Card: um... none...
Monitor: Dell In1930 (1366x768)

Recently, I started getting bored with the small screen size and wanted to connect my PC to my TV.

The TV is Sony Bravia R402 with 1920x1080 Resolution.
It has HDMI support.
So I went and bought an HDMI cable.
I attached it to the TV, but there was some obstacle in the PC's HDMI port, and the cable went in only halfway...
All this time, my TV was ON.
then I shut off the TV, cleaned the obstacle in the PC's Port (it was spider web -_- ) and connected the wire.
Yippee! it fit!

But now, my TV won't start...

I mean, it starts, shows the SONY logo... and shuts off... just like that...
and it won't do even that until you switch off the Mains and reconnect them...

Do you think my PC damaged my TV?
I've called my dealer, and he'll be arriving sometime this evening...
but I thought I'll ask here, first...

What do you think's happened?

It's very odd that it would do that, but I suppose that it would be possible if the HDMI signal sources on the display were not properly internally terminated.

Ahh...
I forgot to mention, even when my cord was only inserted halfway, the PC was running, BUT the TV DID NOT detect it...

I'd have to take a closer look at the HDMI connector specifications but many connectors use short pins to ensure full insertion before signals begin transmitting. Thus, many connectors need to be inserted fully before they will begin to function.

Does the TV function with the HDMI cable disconnected?

nope...

Some lines may have been crossed. I wouldn't expect that alone to cause failure, but I suppose that it's possible. Contact a repair shop

Well, the person from the service centre came by and took the TV with him...
He says that he can't be sure right now about what must have happened, but he says that most Bravia TV's malfunction when they are first connected by HDMI, either to a PC, or to a DTH STB.

he says the software gets locked, and needs to be upgraded...

this has happened before but is not that serious...

Ah, sounds like a firmware bug. Hopefully the repair shop has the tools to debrick it and upgrade it.
