Hey, I am a new to PC building, and I would appreciate if you could help me. I am trying to build a budget gaming PC, and I have all my parts figured out, except for the motherboard, which I have no idea which to get.

Components (open for improvements):
CPU - Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
Cooler - Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
RAM - G.Skill Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory
Case type - ATX Mid Tower
PSU - Corsair 760W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

I don't think any other parts affect the mobo. Thank you

Oh yah, and I forgot. The motherboard should support at least two USB 3.0 ports and a Nvidia GTX 770 card.

Honestly I don't want it to go much over $150. Thanks for the quick reply though.

Ok your welcome, let me research a bit BTW are you planning to overclock? And what GPU or no GPU?

Yeah I would love to overclock although its not too much of a priority. Also, I didn't originally include this in my first post, but it should support at least 2 USB 3.0 ports and a Nvidia GTX 770 GPU.

Thanks

Thanks bro! Looks like I'll be getting that one. Also, may I ask, how did you find it. Did you just google it or did you go to newegg and look for it there? I wanna be able to find stuff by myself, and not just ask other people :)

Actually I did some research about a year ago then you asked the community this question so I simply went to Google and typed in asus motherboards (because I prefer Asus more than any other) and then I used the filters for the particular features and the LGA 1155 socket and there you go there are many motherboards now look at each one the one you think is better simply Google "Asus P8Z77-V LE Newegg" and look at the price and before purchasing look at the reviews on Youtube and other places. Hope it helps BTW doing a build yourself helps a lot :)

I'm so happy you replied.
You see this my first time building a PC so I didn't have everything planned out.

I now know that my case has 3 fans (1x200m and 2x120mm front and 1x120mm rear). Also I'm gonna be using the H100i to cool my cpu, so that also has a fan. I may also want to mount more fans in the future.

Additionally, I may want to SLI my video card in the future.

Does this motherboard have enough connecters for all the fans + more fans, and does it support SLI. Thanks so much.

P.S. My case is the Corsair Carbide Series 500R

If you haven't bought the parts already then this PRE-Built looks good enough to me- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227504
No... :( :( :( So sorry it doesn't support SLI . I'll research a more for you and for that you might have to wait for about an hour or so, thanks for the patience :)

Yeah, I'm new too :)
I did a bit of research and for some reason newegg only has specs for the other models of the line (deluxe, pro...), and I'm not sure if they will be the same with the one that you gave me.

UPDATE:
Watching the video on the newegg page for the product... the guy says that there are at least 5 4-pin fan headers for each motherboard in the line. Not sure if this is true though.

If it is though, will I be able to add more? Keep in mind I have a psu, 3 case fans, and 1 cpu fan, thus adding up to 5. Hmm. I guess not.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293
OR
Actually any other Asrock Motherboard will do, they are good in quality and price/performance ratio. You can try them they look good and the reviews are really nice. Best of luck :)
And for the case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146087
OMG! That case is WOW! NZXT Phantom 410 looks WOW!

Sorry for the nagging, but I have another question. If a motherboard supports say 5 fans, does that include the fan for the power supply and/or CPU cooler or only the chasis fans?

The board that you suggested only supports 3 fans, which is not enough for me (I need at least 5). Is there such thing as a splitter like there is a USB splitter that I could use to connect 2 fans to the same slot?

If it means only chasis fans, then I will definitely be using the one that was suggested in the beginning, as it will mean it can support 5 chasis fans (so I'll have space for 2 more)

Did some research and this is what I found:

Asus P8Z77-V LE supports
1 x CPU Fan connector(s)
3 x Chassis Fan connector(s)
1 x Optional Fan connector(s)
All 4-pin

Does the PSU also needs a fan header?

Try this build if you haven't bought the parts yet (Complete no need to add anything) - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2i9sM
Ask whatever you want to :)

Hey, I did a bit of my own research and I opted with MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1155 mobo. It is easy to overclock, the bios is amazing and its gaming orientated. I'm also getting 2 fan connecter splitters in case I install more fans (the mobo has 4 connecters + 1 cpu connecter, which is just enough).

AND it looks hot :D

Heres my build:http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2i8D2 (it can run crysis 3 at comfortable fps at max graphics and only costs $1300 + supports OCing)

Yeah it's good but I personally think you are spending way to much on some of the things and there you can save up for either a better GPU or SLI (ing) them. For example the i7 isn't meant for gaming at all , I mean it's 100$ more than the i5 and still they both are almost the same in gaming performance and actually almost everything. I would recommend going with a cheaper case , an i5 instead of the i7, an air cooled CPU cooler (Cooler Master 212 Hyper EVO is good enough if you are not planning to overclock above 4.5 GHz as it can easily handle those clock speeds),the PSU is extremely expensive and you can get a Corsair CX 600 (I know not the best of quality but still great enough) ,
Ram is another thing you can save up on try this- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145343
And this is just my suggestion , try it if you like or go with your own build. The reason I'am suggesting to go for cheaper parts is because if the CPU , GPU and Ram are good enough you PC will remain the same in gaming performance no matter whatever part apart from these you upgrade and in your case all the three are super good for gaming but still after saving that money which will be around 200 bucks upgrade that GTX 770 to a R9 290X
at around 600$. I bet that's future proof for at least the next 3 years. But still it's your choice I can only suggest :)

Thanks, I just want to make one thing clear, although this is a budget build, I still want to have very nice performance, and also I want to future proof it so that I won't have to spend too much money on it in the next 2-4 years.

I'm going through all your suggestions one by one:

PSU: I want to make sure that I'm able to have SLI support, and for 2 770s, I need at least 750W I would say. Also, I read somewhere (don't remember) that a lot of people have been having problems with not enough watts in their PSU, so parts don't run properly. I don't want to happen. I also think $150 is an extremely good price for an 850W PSU.

CPU: I've changed my build from an i7-3770K to an i5-4670K. I'm also able to get it as a combo with my mobo.

Case: I'm pretty set on this one. I think it has very nice airflow and cooling (I mean seriously, a 200mm fan blowing directly onto GPU and mobo), and there are great reviews of it. Its also not high-end, but its not low-end, which is perfect for me, because I'm trying to find a good combo of both.

RAM: I want at least 8GB of RAM. 4GB just doesn't feel like enough. But thank you, I have since changed my RAM and saved myself a few bucks.

CPU cooler: I'm looking into it now.

Oh and about the R9 290X, I prefer Nvidia graphics because I have more experience with them, and according to reviews AMD GPUs have more problems than Nvidia GPUs. Nvidia also has more features such as PhysX.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I was originally going to build a PC which costed over $1500 and had worse specs than my current (planned) build; until I met you!

(^.^)b (<-- thats me going thumbs up)

OMG I replaced the Corsair H100i with a Cooler Master 212 Hyper EVO (you suggested it ;)) and now my build is down to $1190! Oh yah and I forgot to mention something:

Another reason for some of my components being a bit pricey is because I don't live in the US, and I will be using either a relative or a 3rd party parcel forwarder to get my parts to me. Because of this I am extremely worried about parts being DOA, because it will probably cost more than the actual price to RMA my components.

You are seriously a guardian angel.
