My computer logged off by itself when i was away.

Your computer settings are probably set to lock the computer upon entering sleep mode. Once woken up, it has the user enter the password for security purposes. It helps prevent unauthorized access to your computer. You can change this by accessing the Control Panel, and going to the security tab I believe.
