Hello everyone, thanks for having the time to read and answer my problem. My problem is I was not able to use all of my 16 GB memory for my windows 8 pro x64.

I decided to take out everything and install it one by one. everything worked fine at first by going 8-4-2 with 14 GB all in all but when I installed the last 2 GB my pc encounters a problem and windows would stop loading.

I checked the BIOS and 16gb amount of ram is registered. I also changed order and it works fine as long as I only use 3 of the memory slots available

Solution
I would guess that the biggest problem you have is the mismatched sizes of your ram. When you use different sizes in the slots, you are going to end up with issues unless the sizes in the dual channel slots are the same. If slot one is 8gb and the dual channel slot (slot 3) is 2gb, you will have issues. You can run effective dual channel with, for instance, 2 x 4 in slots 1 and 3 and 2 x 2 in slots 2 and 4 and get true dual channel, but if you run 1 x 8 in slot 1 and 1 x 2 in slot 3, it won't play.

Read THIS from Intel - it explains it alot better than I do.

I tried all sticks on that slot and the operating system would face errors.

Would it still be a bad slot even if the BIOS recognizes the amount of memory installed on that slot?

I cannot try a lone stick on that slot because the system would beep if I do not put my memory in the proper order.
