TP-LINK Router Device Limit

I hope I explain this clearly because I am terrible with routers and networking.

I have a TL-WDR3600 Wireless Router and I was just wondering if there is a limit to how many devices register to one router? Not as in how many devices can connect to the router at the same time (plus I think it can handle 15, could be wrong) but how many devices would the router allow until it hits the limit of mac addresses (if there is a limit) and just doesn't let anymore devices connect. Will it start taking old mac addresses off or will it just block anything else that tries to connect. Again that is if there is a limit.

Alright wow that is a lot higher than I was expecting. So what will happen if I did hit the max (even though there is no way I will lol). Will it start getting rid of the older devices or will it block anything else that tries to connect?

Also thank you very much for the super fast reply!

you can't, as soon as the badnwidth / device gets too low they are all gonna work slow and the router wont be able to accept any new connections. i'd say your estimate is correct, after 10-15 you're in trouble.

there's a nice android app wifi analyzer which can help you choose the cleanest channel available to maximize the speed of the wifi. also, it helps to use n only (if you dont need to connect any g devices)

Well at the moment I think we have had 16 devices connected to our router (not all at the same time though) and so far it is still working fine. Obviously we are not going to connect more than 10 devices at the same time, I was just wondering what the limit is to how many previously connected and currently connected devices it would allow to take in.

Almost right,
Address x.x.x.0 is the network address and is not available
Address x.x.x.255 is the broadcast address and is not available
Address x.x.x.1 is usually your router address and is taken

So that leaves you with 253 devices that can be assigned.

It will block new connections until one of the Leases Expires so that the address can be recycled.

When DHCP assigns an Address to a device , it keeps it for the duration of the "Lease Time" if you have I high turnover of devices during the day you can set the lease time to be short , for example 1 hour so that address can be recycled more frequently.

Normally the default lease time is set to 24 hours.
