How bad is it that my GPU is running at 120c+ while playing?

I am curious, it has been that way since I got the computer 6 years ago.

It can be a wrong reading since most GPU's have max temp either side of 100°C.

It's unbelievably bad. What GPU is it? Are you sure that wasn't the VRM temperature as I find it hard to believe a GPU die can reach 120 without freezing up and crashing. What are you using to read temperatures as it may not be accurate?

I dont think it is tho, i used many software to monitor and i cannot hold my hand by the exhaust. It burns you haha.

It usually gets to 130c and then FPS drops and drops to 100c then repeats the cycle.

The last program was Unigine Heaven benchmark.

That reads my 290 temperature at 1.8 million degrees. Try using MSI Afterburner.

Geforce.com lists the max temp as 105 C, so it's gotta be a faulty reading.

Comfirmed with CPUID HWMonitor.

It maybe a fault sensor then, as that GPU can't reach that sort of temperature without locking up and causing a crash.

are you sure it's not 120 fahrenheit? that would make a lot more sense

Well at least the card re-solder itself every time it is used so no need to bake it. Seriously it would be dead a long time ago if the reading as true and you would burn yourself with 60°C so the exhaust is not a valid argument.
