"Open File - Security Warning"

windows 8 keeps asking if im sure to run a program even though i already unchecked "Always ask before opening this file" option. This is quite irritating. Any help would be nice, thanks in advance. :)

Go to Start >> Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control setting.

To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.

Do not do this in Windows 8, it will shut off all metro applications if UAC is turned off. Instead of turning off UAC turn it down a notch or two, but not all the way down to the bottom. Then reboot and check if it solves your problem. If it does then great!

Okay, when it asks you if you are sure then press the bottom in the bottom left corner of the bar and check (or uncheck) the box located there. I can not think of the name of it off of the top of my head and I am at work so I can't check. Then press okay and it shouldn't pop up with a security notification for that app.

UAC is not the problem, its the security screen thing (Not sure what to call it) in Windows 8. UAC would ask for permission to run the App, whilst this is asking if you are sure you want to run any downloaded .exe or .msi.

What doesn't make sense is that he already unchecked the option to 'Always ask before opening this file'

corleone101; try this link. It should help http://twigstechtips.blogspot.co.uk/2009/08/windows-7-d...
