Hey all.

I'm planning on overclocking my CPU relatively soon. Though I was wondering that if I overclock it my CPU fan will be louder. Does the CPU fan change speeds when there's more heat generated by the CPU? Especially when I turn cool-N quiet off.

Also, I tend to leave my computer on all day. With cool-N-quiet off does my CPU sleep when on sleep mode at all?

Thanks for the info. Greatly appreciated

Solution
it should only run the fan as fast as it needs to. but cool n quiet won't let it spin fast if I has to. It should slow down pretty good when not being stressed.

Do you own an aftermarket fan? if you still have stock one don't try to OC it at all. Things will get louder when under load typically when you do some OC as the fan has to dissipate more heat. It may not be too noticeable but it will get louder if you OC much at all.

No I have a pretty good cooler the Zalman CNPS12X.

What about idling? How does it work without cool-n-quiet and OC? Does it keep running as if the computer was on when its on sleep mode?
