Hi, i have a dell precision 690, it originally came with 2x e5050 (3ghz duel core hyperthreaded) which shown up 8 CPU graphs in task manager.

Then when i installed my x5355 processors, bios only recognised them as dual core (they're both quad) and as a result, only shown 4 processing graphs in task manager, and in msconfig advanced boot settings.

After LOTS of hardwork, i finally managed to get my computer to run on BIOS a08 (latest one) and my motherboard to recognize BOTH processors as quad core processors.

But now when i'm on windows, task manager only shows 4 cpu graphs, and same in msconfig boot settings? I'm up to date with all drivers ect.. Running windows 7 64 bit home premium, i've reset bios and reinstalled the cmos battery, no idea what else to do!

Help please? Thanks in advance guys!

I think i've found the solution, apperently windows 7 64 bit home premium can only support 1 physical processor, yet i've had 2 dual core hyperthreaded (2 processors, showing 8 cores!) So i'm going to try and buy windows 7 ultimate and see what happens

I have a Dell 690 two cpu motherboard 0F9394 A00, Chipset 5000X, BIOS A08. But only CPU is running. I run at this moment windows 8.1 I did try windows 7 but the same result. When I run CPUID CPU-Z only 1 cpu is showing

It is not clear to my what the solution is for this problem?

When I google I see some remarks say to go back to BIOS A01 and others say it is also working in BIOS A08
