The CPU is native to 1600 DRAM - stock - mobo can default the sticks to 1333 - whichever sticks you have simply enable XMP and the BIOS reads the info from the DRAM's SPD and sets to the specific timings of the sticks for the given freq
Yep and I have a 3350p running 1866... that means nothing, intel just wont claim anything above 1600 b/c they don't want to bother having to test more situations than they already do with a new processor. I've not seen any K model (ivy or haswell) not do 2133 with a minor oc probably can do it with no changes other than enabling xmp
What is the max ram frequency supported by the i7 4770k at stock settings?
Mobo: Asus Maximus Hero
Many thanks

Says 1333/1600 about 1/2 way down the page.

3350p doesn't oc so my processor is at stock settings. He didn't say everything stock, I took that to mean the processor not be OCed. it should run 2133 MHz by simply enabling XMP, that's as close to stock as it gets, even 1600 MHz requires that change if you buy memory with a cl lower than 11.

So once XMP is enabled I don't need to do anything else, correct?
Yes with most CPUs, there are Intel CPU's that won't be able to carry 2133 at stock and may need a voltage adjustment or two Generally no big deal, just give a shout if you need help
