So I'm switching out my 500GB WD Blue for a new 2TB WD Black and was wondering how I could move all my files over? I don't have an extra Sata cable and I'm willing to go and get one but I was just wondering if there was a way to do it without having to get one. It's all just storage since my OS is on my SSD. Thanks!

Solution
-you could get an usb enclosure for the old hdd and plug it after that on usb or firewire or esata.
-or you could use the ssd as intermediary. (copy from the old to ssd - even 100gb at a time - plug the new, copy to it, unplug new, plug old, copy to ssd another 100gb and so on)
-or you could plug the new instead of the ssd, boot from cd/dvd to a linux on cd (knoppix) copy the files, switch out the 2 hdd-s and replug the ssd.

One of these is incredibly handy to keep around:
USB SATA/IDE cable.
