Hi

I'm considering getting an SSD for my PC and I was wondering if there was any way to copy over my windows onto my new drive. Could i just copy and paste the root folder? Or would i have to completely reinstall it?

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, i have no experience with having more than one drive.

Thanks

You can NOT copy and paste it.

You have 2 options.

1. Clone the drive(This would bring everything over). While it is not generally the recommended way to go, some users take this route. You may need to ensure you have your windows partition size small enough to actually fit on the SSD(this is a common problem of moving from a large drive to a smaller ssd).

2. Reinstall from scratch. This is the preferred method for most users here.

I have done both and they both have advantages and disadvantages.
