Hello all

As you can guess I am wanting to add a switch to my internet router so that I have more wired connections and also so that data is transferred better around my home network rather than it being sent to all devices, I know how to build a basic network but I have never tried to add one to my home internet....Also my router is a wireless router and I want to keep the wireless....unless I am able to add one or two wireless access points to my network then I could have wireless upstairs and down.

I have a Virgin Media Superhub V2

One last thing which is a side question...I have 3 xbox 360's (soon to be 4....kids lol) and we seem to keep getting disconnected, I dont know if it is due to the router getting confused that there is more than one....but it is annoying so and advice on that would be great.

Many thanks and have a great day :)

Nobody sells hubs anymore everything is a switch.

It is pretty easy to select. Determine how many ports you want and if 10/100 is ok or if you need 10/100/1000. You can get 8 port 10/100 switches for $7 but I would avoid the cheapest. Around $15 will get you something that works good. About $25 for ones that can run gig. Any brand is ok really but even the larger brands like netgear or tp-link are in these price ranges.

Thank you bill, I thought the ISP may put restrictions on adding switches.

Any recommendation on which switch(a) are best? Please don't say Cisco as I can't afford them unless it's a linksys lol.

Is it possible to attach to wireless routers to the switch as well?

Thank you again for your prompt reply
