How important is a motherboard's system bus transfer rate?

Hi,

I have just bought an ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0 (970 chipset) for my AMD 8320. My rationalisation was, a good 970 mobo would be better than a shitty 990 mobo. My understanding was, the main factor to consider whether to buy a 970 or 990 mobo was SLI/Crossfire capabilities, which I didn't need.

I've just been looking at the more "finer details" of the mobo and realised it's system bus is "Up to 4.8 GT/s HyperTransport™ 3.0". The thing about my AMD processor is that it's bus transfer rate is 5.4 GT/s. Now I don't know a lot about what these system bus rates are and how they're gonna affect my build but I got enough common sense to know a circle wont fit into a square as well as a square would into another square.

SO my question is this, will this affect my build? And if it does, how much will it affect it?

I also would like to reconfirm if my 600w power supply will be up to the task.

I really appreciate your help, I've put in a lot of research into this build and would really like to know if there's anything wrong with it before I start building it tomorrow.

Here's the rest of the info you will probably want to ask:

- I'm planning on overclocking my processor from 3.5 to 4Ghz. I don't want to take it any further than that because my PC is on pretty much 24/7 and I want it to last.

- I use my PC for work, play and everything in between. So it will be doing a lot of rendering and gaming.

- I have a 560TI 448 graphics card fitted with a Gelid Icy Vision VGA cooler. Card is not overclocked, it's just that the stock MSI cooler that it came with was super loud and once hit 85C as soon as I turned SSAO in Burnout Paradise. (http://www.gelidsolutions.com/products/index.php?lid=1&cid=17&id=52).

- I've already got a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo to keep the CPU nice and chilly.

- Got 2x4gb Corsair Vengeance 1600, old OCZ vertex 2 120gb solid state, two 500gb sata 3.5", a 250gb ide 3.5", a 160gb 2.5" and 2 case fans - intake on the side, exhaust back-top.

- Corsair CX600 80plus bronze.

Hypertransport is a bus that provide bandwith for I/O operation which is connected to southbridge..for example: graphic card, sound card, mouse, keyboard, usb stick etc etc etc..
whatever gagdet connected to your computer except memory..

4.8GT/s means it can communicate with all of your connected hardware with 9600 MB/s (interconnect bandwidth)
5.4GT/s means it can communicate with all of your connected hardware with 10400 MB/s (interconnect bandwidth)

meanwhile, pcie 2.0 16x use interconnect bandwith as much as 4GB/s~4000mb/s

For any 970 chipset, since it's only use single graphic card, HT 4.8 GT/s (9600mb/s) is more than enough..and can use bandwidth left (5600mb/s) for other parts of your hardware..

but for 990 chipset, because it support 2 or more graphic cards, then HT 5.4 GT/s is needed..

So the answer of your question is, no, it will not affect your performance at all..
