I am about to build a litecoin mining rig and I just wanted to make sure I am getting enough power for 6 beast gpus. I am currently planning on running two corsair HX 850s for a total of 1700w. Will that be enough or should I go for 2000w to be safe. I know the cards say you should have 300w but is that for just one card, does this include cpu, mobo, ram, ect.? Would 6 cards need 1800w? Thanks!

You should be able to get 2 of the 280x's on the first psu, however, I'd recommend a 1000-1200w psu for your 2nd one though that will need to power 4 of those cards.

um, the R9 280x has a TDP of 250W, doesn't it? times 6 puts you at 1500W. plus CPU. you're going to need to run this on a dedicated outlet in your home.

FYI - a standard 15A circuit is rated for 1800W (approx.), so if you think you're going to need 2000W, you need a special 20A circuit installed - or just unplug your oven and plug your computer into that.....

For the matrix edition of the cards it says 300 on Asus's website.

(see edit above - you're likely looking at a dedicated 20A circuit for this)

+1 A dedicated 20A line, a 2000W PSU, and a nice big APC UPS for those really high draw moments.
