So i have a rampage II Extreme motherboard running an i7 920, but i want a 3770k-4770k, But i don't think my motherboard supports them, can anyone shed some light on this, i really don't want to have to buy another motherboard when buying one of the 2 selections..., and if i have to buy a motherboard whats the best cost effective motherboard/CPU To buy for the same performance. Thanks

well my chip is already oc'd to 3.7ghz JUST!,i think my cpu cooler needs a clean. But i would like a new chip, just because, and i have no budget really im buying a gtx 690, so i thought i might aswell go in for a new chip aswell, but my mate says he can maybe get me a good one for around 150, so i'd say 100-150 on a mobo., and i know i can match performance for newer i7's but most i7's get oc'd to 4.5 4.7 ghz so its ok but to me irrelevent.

Since you have no budget, I'd recommend you to buy the Asus Z87 Maximus VI Formula. It has everything you could ever wish for, but it costs $300...
And also don't buy a GTX 690. Either go with a single 780 ti for $700-750 or SLI 780s for $1000.

Reread my post. I said the board is only $120 new, not the CPU.
