Hey There.
New here to the forums knowing this is a great place to learn if your new to the PC community.

I will be starting my first PC build this x-mas buy ordering my first few parts. It will be for everyday performance, with gaming. I want to keep it cheap cause it is my first build just in case some might go wrong.

I know all the parts I want to get, but im kinda confused on witch motherboard to get.
I want to install both an SSD and HDD to install my OS on the SSD.
But what im just finding out is that some Mobo's dont support having both SSD and HDD
I was going to get a Asrock Z75 Pro3 but then found out that an Asrock Z75 Extreme4 will support my build with both HDD & SDD.

I will link the SSD and HDD I want to get with the each of the Mobo's im confused on getting. With links to Newegg, that where ill be getting everything.

SSD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G15W3287

HDD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236339

Now for the Mobo's ------------>

Z75 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157304

Z77 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293

If some one can tell me if my HDD & SSD will be compatible with one an other on witch Mobo that would be great. And ANY kind of other info is appreciated.

Here's my GPU and CPU....

GPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130840
Geforce of course

CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116773
Intel as always

If any other part is needed for more info plz let me know.

Solution
Yes. The Z75 board only has two SATA ports from what I saw and you will need one for the Hdd, SSD, & Optical Drive. As for an Optical drive, a LiteOn iHAS124-04 would do fine. As for Connections, You can plug them all into SATA 6 or you could plug the Optical drive into SATA 3. That one doesn't really matter.

You don't need a Z motherboard since you're not going to overclock your CPU, stick to a H one. Why not get a new generation i3? the i3 4130 is a very good option, but you have to buy a different motherboard, like a H87 otherwise it won't fit.
Finally why not get a GTX 650 ti Boost for less money? Check this one out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121728. But it is out of stock, you would have to wait a while :p

Hehe! Yes.I also have my memory (4gb's) in the beginning then move up to 6 or 8.
my power supply will be 650wat, case will be a Rosewill Galaxy, and yes I need an optical drive to install the OS.

Is there any particular reason for Z77 over the Z75? Is it cause it will support both HDD and SDD?

And also the other problem im having is connecting the Hard Drive and SSD to the Mobo.
Do I connect the HDD to the 6gb sata or 3gb sata?
And witch one does the SSD connect to? Or it dosent matter how I connect them to the Sata connectors?

Well thats the thing. for the beginning I just want to complete the build and have everything up and running correctly.
After a while of having everything running smoothly and getting familiar with the PC and learning more. I would be interested in OC'ing. Also everything I will be getting I want to get cause im already mostly familiar with everything.

And for the GPU, iv read about GTX 650 ti boost. I figured I just go with the 650 ti cause I saw no difference in the two.
Does the 650ti boost actually give a boost to the video card or anything and gives more/better performance?
If so maybe ill actually look into getting the ti boost.
So if I go with the ti boost will it be compatible with the Z77?

With that Motherboard, you would be good to go later for OCing, you would have to move to an i7 2500k, or i7 2600k / i7 2700k ( 2nd Gen Sandy birdge ) and i5 3570k or i7 3770k ( 3rd Gen Ivy Bridge ) All of those are Intel socket 1155 processors that are unlocked for OCing.

Hey thanx a lot, you answered my question perfectly. All of that is exactly what I wanted to do.
If im correct, when it says "Sata 6gb's" thats the speed of the Sata connection?
If so then that is where ill be putting my HDD & SDD for best/fastest performance, and have my Optical Drive in Sata 3.

Thanx, its great to have some ones else's opinion on my build.

Here's my complete part list, if some wants to give there second opinion.
All links to Newegg, thats where ill be getting everything.
PS. I already have a keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Its all nothing special, its just all cheap for a first time inexperienced build. :)

That should be a good first time build.
