Just finished a new build. Am stumped trying to install Windows 7 from the disc drive. In the Asus bios the Disc drive is set as the first boot option, SSD as second. When the system is rebooted, it goes straight into the bios, no windows installation process starts. Have tried boot over ride to the disc drive, that doesn't work either. Have toggled between legacy and AHCI, and that didn't make a difference either. The bios just loads up when the computer restarts. I have swapped between two different DVD drives to see if that was the issue. Still no install. Any suggestions? Could this be a faulty motherboard? Both disc drives I switched between load the asus driver disc into a DOS prompt, so I don't think anything is wrong with the drives. The window disc seems to be intact, as well when checked on another pc.

That board has a dedicated BUTTON to load the BIOS.

Normally you have to press the DEL key to boot into the BIOS at the specified time. Regardless there should be no auto-boot to BIOS.

It's possible something is pushing against the DIRECTKEY (bottom of motherboard) or it's stuck on.

I don't know if resetting the CMOS would help (probably not). If no joy then contact Asus but I think it's related to the DIRECTKEY option.

Also, if the two Directkey PINS were jumpered for some reason it would always go into the BIOS. It's there to use with the case RESET switch but if it's jumpered then it's the same as the switch stuck on.

Make sure nothing is attached to those pins.
