Hello all, I just got most of my computer together and was wondering a couple thing about my CPU and RAM.

I have:
Intel Core i5 4670K 3.5GHz
G.SKILL Trident X DDR3 2400MHz 16GB (2x8GB)
MSI Z87-G45
RAM Link: http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2400c10d-16gtx

And by default my mobo clocked my 2400MHz RAM to 1333 MHz, I manually changed that for now to 1866 MHz.

I was wondering: Should I clock my RAM up to 2400 MHz? I built this to game but in the mean time no GFX card, just using the integrated GFX until I buy a card.

I am not sure what to set these up as, I plan on overclocking the CPU to 4.5 GHz when I get a real cooler for it and not the stock cooler.

Thanks in advance,
Jesse Jarvis

until you become more familiar, i say stick with 1866mhz. I dont think getting higher right now will help much. and besides, even if it does, with an iGPU it wont matter much to gaming. It's not like it will jump from 30 to 60fps right?

and besides, 1866 is no slouch. Most of us are still using 1600.
If you are not yet familiar, i suggest you read about overclocking and use that unlocked cpu (i have my 2500k @4ghz, cant see the benefit of going higher for now)

Yeah my mobo supports 3000 MHz OC. I was just wondering if clocking it to 2400 MHz is what I should do, also incase anybody was wondering why I bought the expensive RAM, it's because I got 16 GB 2400 MHz for the price of 8GB 1600 MHz.

So yes, I should clock it to 2400 MHz? It won't screw up my cpu or anything? I heard Haswells have issues with clocking them above 1600 MHz, not sure if it's true or not.

Yep sounds good. What I will end up doing most likely is Benchmark a game like FFXIV's tool @1866, then set @2400 and see if there is any real difference.

Eventually I am most likely going to get the MSI GeForce GTX 770 Twin Frozr 3 4GB GDDR5 and put that in my rig. I want something that can play heavily modded Skyrim with ENB @60-70 fps steady. And Crysis 3. Mostly because I want to kick gaming ass for a while.

Upgrading from my ASUS G74SX-CST1-CBIL.

All that's left, is a hard drive for storage (I Have a 120gb SSD for the OS), a liquid cooler and a graphics card.
