How do I properlly set up headphones?

So, I have an asus maximus iv (which supposedly has a decent on board sound card) and steelseries siberia v2s. How should I set these up for the best results. I'm kind of confused. I thought I could use a virtual surround from the MB am I wrong? Thanks.

u should plug them in the audio output.

Thanks for that gem. But I was referring to driver setup, and speaker configuration...during test should it actually work and hear tones for different speakers?

just plug them in.....they're just headphones......nothing to set up.
If you want to use virtual surround, select it through the sound cards control panel. I'd say go to ASUS website and download the latest driver and control panel. I have a soundblaster Z and virtual surround is set through creative's control panel.
