So recently, my windows 8/HDD randomly became "unbootable". So I got a new copy of windows 8 and tryed to install on a brand new partition with 1.7 TB roughly on my drive; but it constantly says "Windows can't be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style". And it's not just on that one partition, it's on all of them. I have been told that it can sometimes be because of what kind BIOS you have vs. the partition style (GPT/MBR), but I have UEFI BIOS and people said that it should be fine then. As it said in the windows error message, my drive is configured to GPT. Any help would be appriciated :)

The only way that you can install the OS on a GPT partition is if your motherboard supports UEFI, otherwise the bios will be unable to detect the drive and therefore unable to boot from it. Now, you have already stated that you have a UEFI compliant motherboard, so the next step would be to look at your bios config and make sure that it is enabled for UEFI and that all drives are being detected... another issue that you might be having is if your existing copy of windows is still install, that could be preventing you from install another copy on the hard drive as well, even if it is a separate partition. Also, you may need to flash your bios to a newer version to ensure full functionality between your system and the hard drive.
