i think i have
-GPU AMD X something
-P4 @3.4 Ghz
-MSI Mobo with 2GB RAM (dont know exacts)
-Windows XP PRO SP3
-thermaltake PSU at about 430 watts max? (not sure)
-250GB HDD

pretty much all i know off the top of my head. got to wait till tomorrow to give more exact specs.
also i got this system from a thrift that gives me their computer stuff. i bought my own case and moved in the parts from that one and hotswapped it with a drive without a password.

how i will use this PC? probs MC and some free games like War Inc Battlezone and Battlefield Play4free and some others. and school.

as for monitor resolution i hook it up to my projector every once in awhile, dont know res on my main monitor though.

sorry for the bad details, am not near my computer. and i cant realy check specs till tomorrow sometime, but i hope this info helps some.

also yes im young and have few ways to get money.

right click on my computer.......... start/computer/properties............... list opsys/cpu/

then go to device manager.........start/computer/properties/hardware/device manager/display adapters.......... hit the (+) sign. menu will drop down.......... what video card is it?

EDIT: can you provide the exact model of your motherboard? or your full specs would be better.

P4 @ 3.2 Ghz
XP Pro SP3 (except it sais counterfit windows?)
Thermaltake 430 Wat PSU
2GB DDR2 RAM
the GPU Slot is PCI-E X16 (most likely 1.0 but i dont mind getting lower grade work out of GPU)
MOBO is MSI (cant seem to find the model number) it supports RAID. live update 2 BIOS.

this stuff is pretty old yes. i dont mind getting a 2.0 in a 1.0 slot if it is.

im not that sure but i think the gt630 will be bottlenecked by your cpu. i suggest to get a new board and a new cpu, the pentium g2010 would be a great partner for the gt630 for mild gaming.

bottleneck?? im sorry but im kinda new to this PC stuff. started about 6-10 months ago.
and yes im planning on upgrading mobo and cpu, but after the GPU. (im going slow and steady on this build) i dont realy have 60 spendable right now actiualy, cause id need to get the money. so im just getting an idea through this.then after GPU upgrade i might buy an AMD A4 or Pentiuum. whatevers the cheaper combo....

Bottleneck is where one of your component is preventing another from showing its full potential, it usually happens when an old component is paired with a new one.. in your case, your cpu will hold back the gt630 from getting its max performance..

hope this helps..

yep, actually ignore the bottleneck until you get a new mobo and cpu.. games might be playable except for those are cpu intesive.. go for the gpu, and save for the mobo and cpu :D

HEY GUYS!!!!! GREAT NEWS!!!!!! i have 400 budget
i found a $150 deal on Amazon for windows 7 OS and a 1TB 7200 RPM HDD. so minus that (its actiualy $148.99)

and now the amazing factors that need upgrading, the Mobo, RAM, CPU, GPU.
my CPU i would love a quad core but wont mind a dual because im looking at music playing and music production to. (less then a hundred please if available or give me a CPU and Mobo Combo for less then $175 like on micro center or something.)
RAM i want 4GB or up. hopefully 8GB. (please about $60 limit or $70 limit only if its 8GB)
Mobo i dont care, just something that is prefferably low power and is ATX case. (i will spend $75 hopefully MAX on Mobo if its not Mobo and CPU COmbo)

i already have
'case Raidmax Helios-- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=11-156-254&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=2#scrollFullInfo
UPDATE: the case isnt the exact on shown. this is the exact case i bought. for some reason newegg has different versions of this case and sends them differently. love my case though... i got the Super Helios version i think. what i dont like is that i didnt get enough drive clamps.
case fans (in case, specific needed look at case)
Combo Drive. (do i need to be specific??)
PSU-------KEEP IN MIND MY PSU IS ONLY 430 WATT MAX!!! (will deffinatley upgrade on spare money if possible)

thanks so much for your input thus far, and all the input you may give so on.
