Am am building a gaming computer and I already have all my parts, but I heard that if my Mobo breaks or I want to replace it, I have to buy another OEM OS because it links with the BIOS. I want to get the OEM version because it is $40 cheaper but if I can't transfer it if I get a new MOBO then I will buy the retail version. Please help, thanx!

Nope, just to insure that it is not too easy for consumers they have 32 and 64 bit packages, OEM and full versions, regular and Pro versions, and each possible permutation. Since the OEM and Full key have the same rights pretty much who knows why they are making it hard. The only real key is to get the 64 bit version for any modern machine and MS will help you out if you get that one wrong.

Example (that I at least consider reputable): NEWEGG 7 VERSIONS OF 8.1.

OEM editions are not specifically linked to any particular hardware, they are just meant to be supplied with a new system as they are a cheaper out of the box version virtually given to vendors to include with your pre-built systems. The contents of the disc is no different to retail version, and the product is no different to a key that you get with the full retail version.
Now, I would question the place that is selling you the copy, as it is illegal to distribute OEM software unless it is sold with a new computer system. It used to be that you could buy an OEM package if you bought a piece of hardware, but they made that illegal a long time ago...

Newegg and Amazon sell the OEM without any other parts purchases -- I think that MS is just happy to shove product out the door at this point.
