NVIDIA GeForce GTX660 OC 2GB declining performance issue

I purchased my GTX660 graphics card in July, and was able to play Minecraft with a shader pack and higher quality texture pack with maxed out settings at 90-100fps, but lately I've noticed that my fps has been around 35-50fps (mostly closer to 35) with the same settings currently. I have also noticed performance issues with other games.

I am currently using an Intel Core i5 3570k 3.4GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of RAM, 3TB HDD with about 1TB available still, ASUS P8Z77 -v motherboard, 650w power supply, and Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

I am wondering if there is any way to either figure out what is wrong with it, or improve its performance.

Thanks in advance,
Ocean

  1. Right now... Minecraft does not use the graphics card to any decent extent. Its 99% CPU taxing.

So unless you have another game that doing the same, you can rule out the card.

    Check your temps.

I have also noticed framerate drops in other games, however where should I post my Minecraft-related problem?

Maybe someone else will help you with Minecraft. But still check your temps.
  4. Get EVGA Precision X or MSI Afterburner to montior the temps and see the usage of your GPU while playing
