Hi there! I've been researching on graphic cards for 2 days now and 'm pretty convinced that the R9 performs better and will be picking one up sometime next week.

I did notice however, from the spec comparison table from hwcompare that the R9 has a memory speed of 1400mhz as compared to the 660 which has 1502mhz. A 102mhz difference. I'm not really concerned about this but how does this affect performance?

Also, I'm from the Philippines and graphic cards are usually 15% more expensive than the US. I was surprised to find out that Power Color R9 270x sells for $202.17, Inno3D GTX 660 for $192 and EVGA GTX 660 SC for $236.05. (Since i was there, I took a loot at PC 7870 which sells for $237.18). So why is the 270x cheaper than EVGA's 660 SC and the 7870?

Hello.
Hwcompare is the worst way to compare products.
It just takes the numbers written in the speccs and compares it. Nothing more...

R9 270X is faster and its memory is 256bit. So even at 1400Mhz will have more memory bandwith than the 192bit GTX660 at 1502Mhz. (just think that GTX660 needs 25% more clock to equal the loss of the memory width (192bit vs 256bit)).

Please don't use Hwcompare. It sucks hard.

edit: Dunno why R9270X is cheaper. This depends from country to country. Some products might have better prices. I remember that I bought my case (RV03) within days of its release!!! with the lower price in the world while I live in EU (high taxes :( ). Some times you might find good offers nomatter where you live :) .

Thanks for the quick reply Memnarchon. I know, I've read several reviews from tomshardware as well. Just used hwcompare to easily show the difference in memory speed :)

You welcome.
Also memory bandwith affects performance but it shouldn't be something that you should care in gaming. Real world performance in games is what you should look :) .
