Hello, good people of Tom's Hardware.
Ordered my new PC parts yesterday, and I'm covering all the bases, before I begin the component assembly, since it's my first time making a PC from scratch, on my own.
What alcohol is appropriate when cleaning PC hardware? I'll be scraping off the crappy Intel paste from the CPU cooler, and using a better one from Arctic Cooling. I know that a sharp hard, plastic object is best for removing the paste itself, but what about cleaning the remaining residue? Will whiskey be sufficient? Nail polish might be excessive...
Also, what about the "attire"? I understand, that everything that might generate static electricity is a no-no. Also no carpets, at the building spot. Chose to do this in my kitchen with ceramic floor plates and a wooden table.
Should I use cue tips, or coffee filters for scrubbing, since coffee filters have no lint in them? And what about latex gloves, to avoid leaving oily residue on the CPU or other PC parts?
I know some of my questions might be dumb, or excessive. But I really want everything to go smoothly, by covering all the bases of possible human error.
P.S. - English is not my main language, hope I described everything clearly.
