Graphics card compatibility help

I have a Core2Duo E7500 processor, (motherboard: G43T- DM1V: A00) 6GB DDR3 RAM, 450psu. Can i install a GT 640 DDR3 Graphics card. I will be doing animation related to gaming and will be working on softwares like Autodesk 3ds, Autodesk Mudbox, Unity (Game Engine). plz advise if there is any other good graphics card which is compatible with my system. And one more thing 'i dont like AMD/ATI' very much!

Most graphics card these days use PCIE 3.0 but they are normally also backwards compatible with PCIE 2.0, If you just do a quick google of the card you want to buy it should tell you if it also supports 2.0 as well at 3.0

The main restrictions are your power supply and how much space you have in your case.
If the case has only modest room for a graphics card, you can probably go up to a GTX 650 Ti from Nvidia.
Check that your power supply has at least 300W 12V output.
The GTX 650 Ti boost is a big step up from there, but is too long for many small cases.

That is a low end card for what you are doing, and also I STRONGLY suggest you upgrade the CPU and maybe even the whole platform for any type of 3D work unless it's very simple stuff. A Q9550 will work in your motherboard and is over double the CPU benchmark of the E7400. A GTX 650 Ti Boost should run fine on your power supply and is WAY more powerfull than a GT 640 card for helping with the video processing. You will probably cut your render time in half if not more with a Q9550 and a 650 Ti Boost.

Okay so what u guys are saying is that this motherboard can hold a GTX 650 Ti Boost or a GT 640 DDR3 (coz i dont think it can hold DDR5) with a increased Power supply...!!?

Memory type on the video card does not have anything to do with the motherboard, you can run DDR3 or GDDR5, does not matter to the motherboard. The GDDR5 parts are faster.

What you can use depends on the case size and power supply as much as anything else. If you have a good 450 watt power supply and a tower or good size mid-tower case, you can run a 650 Ti Boost.

if ur Planing to Over clock ur GPU.....u may need power supply Min 750W .....for smooth performance

One last thing...are u sure that my motherboard (G43T- DM1V: A00) can run a Q9950 quad core chip...!! with a GTX 650 ti Boost
I can upgrade the power supply if 450 isn't enough!

This CPU is not listed as compatible on the manufacturers web site:

There is a good chance it wont work.

A good quality 450W CPU will be enough.
I have installed a GTX 650 Ti boost in a machine with a Seasonic S12II 430W.
If it is a cheaper supply, it may not be reliable enough.

ya....your can MOBO can handle "Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz" and GTX 650ti Boost

just be sure tat u get properly PSU...if u r gng to OC

You're right. This CPU should be fine. Where do you plan to get an old CPU like this?

There is no info on the A00 board at all that I could find. It MAY have different CPU compatability, but with no info hard to know for sure.

That system board looks to be from a Dell Inspiron 560 which were available with a quad core CPU. If you're worried about 100% compatibility, you can hold off on the CPU upgrade and just get the video card. Later you can either buy a new motherboard and CPU or a full new system.

your motherboard is old.....i doubt it cannt support high end GPUs ....because HIGH end Graphic cards mostly come wit PCE-I 3.0 or 3.0(x16)

ya! it can handle GTX 650ti becz it not a high end GPU

i said i cannt handle HIGH GPU like "GeForce GTX 780 Ti" and GTX 780/770

Even if does....their performance wil be not at 100%

i am using GTX 650ti in my PCE-I 2.0x16......with 500W PSU.......i have no problem wit it......

So, u can use GTX 600 Series

in ur MOBO....my final answer and sorry for Confusing u
