Hey guys, I am about to buy a new build for gaming. Not completely gaming but I want to max my games for now and for the future also. I have a GTX 770 and I will get the Asrock H87 Fatal1ty Performance and I was going to get the i7 4770 (non-k). I dont plan to overclock. But I am on a budget and I started considering an i5 4670k or even an FX 8350. I want to my pc to last for about 2-3 years. So i am asking you guys what to buy between these 3 CPUs. I want to play the upcoming games and I heard they might use 8 cores and also I want to be able to play watchdogs and I saw that it recommends 8 cores. Please help me out guys. Thanks.

Solution
All three CPUs are going to be good options for gaming during the next 2-3 years, obviously the i7 is the best option however if you aren't interested in spending that much the i5 and the FX are both good alternatives.

Both the i5 and the FX have their advantages/disadvantages.

The FX is better overall multi-core useage
The i5 has better single core useage
The FX is much better at overclocking
The i5 is a little bit newer

Both are very viable options and with this advantages/disadvantages list I am going to leave it up to you :)

thank you for your answer! so now lets just get the i7 out of the list.. do you think that the i5 will handle the next gen games that may require 8 cores?? or i will be just fone with it and get the i5 and an ssd instead of the i7?? or will the 8350 will benefit for its 8 cores and become far better than the i5? i dont care about 5 fps difference.. i just want it to be futureproof

SSD's typically don't provide any better in game performance, and I think the i5 should be able to handle next gen games just fine

ok then i will probably go with the i5. what do you thing about the motherboard i chose?? is it good? i went for h87 because i dont plan to overclock it. Know i have a phenom II x4 965 BE @ 3.7GHz. Was it bottlenecking my gtx 770 and will i notice the difference between the i5 in general usage?

General use will be significantly better, and gaming will definatley get a performance boost.

I would say your phenom was probably bottlenecking your 770

A phenom overclocked could handle a 7850 max, without bottlenecking further.

As for the OP, 8320 is a good buy right now, for budget, but if you run lots of single threaded applications, an i5 is better. Obviously an i7 is better than the i5 as it has hyperthreading, so if you do lots of rendering or 3d modeling or anything like that, you should go for that.

If you're on a tight budget and can only afford to either upgrade the processor or graphics, almost always go for the processor first, especially in this case.

Thanks for the reply. Can you suggest me a good motherboard for amd 8350 or 8320. If i get one of these processors I will not be able to hold myself from overclocking it! So I will get an aftermarket cooler in the future. So for now I will need a good motherboard in order to archive good overclock. I prefer black and red theme :p

Biostar is an overall bad brand. Also not to mention that the theme doesn't matter, and the motherboard accepts slowish ram. 1066.
