Today I got a prompt in Samsung Magician asking me to update the software to a new version.

After I did, I keep getting the message:
"Samsung Magician cannot communicate with the ssd... please check other storage drivers" or something similiar.

I tried installing and re-installing it but I get the same message.

It was working perfectly before and I have no idea what to do.

Does anyone know what it could be?

Ok I have now noticed that my SSD is showing as SCSI in device manager.
It used to show as ACHI.

I also have a HDD as my secondary hard drive and its showing SCSI.

Any idea what this means and how to fix it?

I also have an 840 Pro in my system which shows as "Samsung SSD 840 Pro Seri SCSI Disk Device". Also, under "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" it shows: "Intel 8 Series/220 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller".

Is yours any different?

Yeah I got the latest version from the intel website (tried re-installing).
AHCI Intel IRST

I also have a secondary HDD attached via sata and lately when I open that drive or load something from the drive like a text file or PDF file I can hear it get noisy almost as if its booting up for the first time? Could it be related? It never used to do that.
