Okay to unplug internal storage devices?

I'm about to install a new internal hard drive, but the only power cable that reaches it is being used by another drive.

If the computer is off, will unplugging the power to that drive and connecting a different power cable to it affect the drive in any way?

    No problem. As long as the power is off, you can change cables to suit your needs.
