Hey there

I'm building a new Computer. I will need it for gaming (BF4) and working (VMs). It should run Linux (Arch) without any problems.

Already chosen:

Intel Xeon E3-1230 v3 (BX80646E31230V3)
MSI N770 TF 2GD5/OC Twin Frozr Gaming, GeForce GTX 770, 2GB GDDR5 (V282-052R)

What I need your help with:

Motherboard (I'm using a SSD)
RAM
CPU Cooler (The case is a Fractal Design Define R4)

Thanks in advance!

Is there a particular reason why you need a Xeon microprocessor?

Any B-85 H87 os Z87 is good. This Gigabyte is cheap and good for this price.

normal 1600MHz 1.5V memory , Gskill is good.
This is cheap 1600MHz http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f312800cl9d8gbrl
And this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f312800cl9d8gbxl
This is maybe best choice. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f312800cl9d8gbsr

Good cpu cooler (really silent is this.

This is better.

Xeon is best CPU for any use if OP do not want to OC.
It do have HT + 8 Treads. Lo faster than 4670K with stock clocks.

Price vs performance is best. Same cpu as the 4770 but no iGPU.
Only bit slower clock speed.

HaHa. Not needed? How can u tell what someone else needs and what not? It is better cooler than CM 212 EVO. It is more silence. It is originally planned for no fan use.
Fan is added later. So with non OC system it works without fan.

Im not making competition is your build better. CM 212 + is not so good cooler with 30 $ price.
EVEN 212 EVO is not good if you compare is to Macho.

Look the size that cooler.

With Fractal R4 good silence fan setup is with macho. Make it with macho original fan. Remove Fractal original back fan. use the macho fan. Then add the Fractal or some other good silent fan for top os Fractal R4. Two 700-900rpm 140mm fans is good. Then you have really silent fan set. My suggestion is put Fractal original fan to floor to cool video card. Then you can slow down video card fan and get best silet build possible.

Well if looking cheap option then this can be one.

It is maybe not best with original fan but good if want to buy new fan..
And there is couple other cooler from same manufacturer.

New HR 22 is best but expensive cpu cooler.

Any cooler can be on sale :) Hope that O gets best choice :) Btw, macho was 100$ cooler when did come to market.
