Hey guys, I( just turned on my computer after I opened the case. (I did not touch anything). Now the fan is spinning at 2000RPM. It is always like that. My CPU temp is only 20C. Last night, my PC restarted due to a heat problem. Not sure GPU or CPU, but it might have started to spin really fast constantly since then(But I did not notice last night after crash). How do I get this back to normal?
My CPU is only 11C! My fans are still spinning at 2000RPM!
Please help! Thank you.

First off.....i would like to know what software you are using to monitor cpu temps, coz cpu temps are never 11C while you are using your pc (only happens if you use liquid nitrogen or helium)

secondly....there might be a chance that you mother board heat sensors are damaged leading the PWM fan to believe that the cpu is overheating even though it is not (reason why fan keeps spinning at 2000rpm even if the cpu temp is low)

thirdly...it might also be that your fan header might be damaged (reason why fan keeps spinning at 2000rpm even if the cpu temp is low)

2000 RPM is relatively low for the stock heatsink and fan. Maximum is around 6000 RPM. (Or were you refering to your case fans?)

There are two sets of numbers for monitoring the CPU temperature. CPU core, and CPU Socket. CPU socket is good for idle temps, CPU core is good for at load.

Coretemp or AMD Overdrive will give you the Core temps, usually. So see what they say when you're at a heavy load.

I am using CUPIDHWMonitor and SPEEDFAN. Both which I have not really configured. The CPU used to be around 20C to 30C when the fan was normal. (800 RPM when not doing anything.) and 50C when gaming. The fan overdrive started this afternoon, when I noticed it, it may have started earlier, maybe when my PC crashed. After my PC crashed due to heating, probably, the CPU was about 45C when I turned it on right after and the GPU was 70-80C.
I am pretty sure that the really fast fan, the first one out of 2, is the one that is responsible for bring the air out of the PC. Since it takes longer to slow down when my PC shuts down. But it could be it just gets the message later.

what gpu do you have????

80C....right after you start the pc is quite high enough

as for your "message later" thing, all these controls happens in matter of fraction of seconds (we cannot make out manually the difference)

I THINK I ment the case fan. Look at this:

I have the GTX 645 2GB OEM from HP. I figured out why it is so hot. It turns out that my fan, for the GPU has fell off. Probably during shipping since this a new PC. I found it sitting above the hard drive. I took it and just tapped it in. When I turned it on, it doesn't move. It also doesn't have the little resistance that most fans give when you spin them manually. (it goes back unless it passes an interval.) < the fan doesn't do that.

What it was like before:

What it is like now:

Take a look at my other replies to see the speedfan data.

this looks bad....try to get a new gpu heat sink and fan asap before you damage your card permanently

went through your speed fan data.....fan 1 is the fan that is connected to your 1st fan header on your mother board (only you will be able to figure out which one is it)

you can manually set fan profiles if your motherboard allows it or else you can also use speed fan to manually control the fan speeds

I got to GPU fan to work. It stays around 30C when browsing and 40-50C when gaming. My first fan, which you said was on the motherboard, is right on top of my CPU, is still going at 2000 RPM. and my CPU is staying at 22C right now when I am just on internet.

then....do 1 thing

set manual fan profiles to control fan speeds

btw what is the make and model of your motherboard?

Ok, will I need to turn on speed fan whenever I turn on my computer?

I think my motherboard is MSI 2AE0. If it is not, tell me and I'll search again.

I tried it. I think I may have done something wrong but it doesn't work.

you see that fan curve???

bring that down from 100% at 60C to say 60% or so....that should work

But it never reaches 60C! I mean it is staying at 5C when I am not doing anything, and 40C when I am gaming.

Ill try it.

"5C when not doing anything" itself is really really strange.....i suspect your temp sensors have gone bonkers

Hm okay then. Do you have any other solutions as how to bring down the speed of the fan? if the sensors n the CPU broke, is there another way for the fan to go down? Is there any way to tell If it truly broke?

strange temp readings itself prove that the sensors are broken.....5C at bios

100C after windows start up are all proofs of the same
